I obtained 3 estimates from various moving services including Avatar. The other two came from friend and professional recommendations, but my gut told me to go with Avatar and it was the best decision I made. The team of 4 were extremely professional and worked so well together. They treated our items and if they were their own. Every item was moved in perfect condition. Moving is a stressful event and Avatar made it a wonderful experience. I recommend Chris and his team highly. read less

I especially appreciated the careful way they packed all of my items. Nothing was damaged (as compared to many easily-avoided damages in my previous move with another company). At the end of the job they made an extra effort to confirm each piece of furniture and box had been placed in the right room of the house. They even helped put back together my Ikea bookshelf that fell apart while they were moving it (through no fault of theirs, particle board furniture has a tendency to do that!) Will definitely use them again if I have to move. read less

The whole undertaking from initial sales meeting with Steve to the actual move with Robert, Hank and crew was outstanding. We moved on New Year's Eve Day and the guys were punctual, professional and personable. We had basically no damage to any of our furniture or our home and everything was assembled and placed exactly where we wanted it. While slightly nervous beforehand, the day ended up being such a relief. They guys were also a pleasure to deal with throughout the move. All had great personalities, strong work ethics and made the move (almost) enjoyable. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great moving service at a fair price. read less

From the very start things went very smoothly. Steve C. arrived early to our estimate on one of the coldest Winter days Long Island has had this year. He was very pleasant and knowledgable and asked all the appropriate questions. His estimate on the number of boxes was very accurate. He sent the quote later that very afternoon and gave us a dollar amount that was fair. He made himself available in the next coming weeks for any question, big or small that I had for him. He always kept my mind at ease.
On the day of our move, Bob, Gino and a third man came to collect our boxes, bicycles, furniture and 5 precious surf boards (we packed them ourselves with bubble wrap in two surf board bags). The gentlemen packed our lamps, tv's and computer monitors along with wrapping our furniture and a glass top drafting table that was easily breakable. The gentlemen worked for three hours straight and were very professional and careful with our belongings.
Two weeks later we met the delivery tractor trailer along with Danny and Wayne at our storage unit. They arrived about a half hour earlier than expected. We received a call a few days prior to their arrival with a time and date of when we should meet them. Both Danny and Wayne were professional and carefully brought all of our items, big, small and some fragile into the storage until and helped us direct where to put the boxes. They both worked diligently and were very friendly.
Thank you again to all the helpful people we encountered from Avatar Relocation!! All of our belongings arrived safely and NOTHING was damaged. I would recommend them to family and friends. You all made our transition to Florida pleasant and always acted in a professional manner. Thanks again!...Steph and Paul H. read less

As I was nearing the closing date to get out of my house and the boxes started to pile up, I realized I needed a professional to help me move: I couldn't handle the task of doing it on my own. Getting a pod was something I briefly considered, but after pricing them out and getting two other estimates from movers, I decided to go with Chris and Avatar. His rates were the best in comparison, not falsely underestimating the cost to outbid competitors, or up selling me with additional nickel and dime fees others told me were "standard." Chris provided confidence and reassurance, and Avatar had a good track record as evidenced by their online reviews and Atlas Quality Awards.
Day of the move, the guys showed up on time and killed it, easing all tensions and stress. They were careful and professional, accommodating, down to earth and made the whole thing fun, we put on some music and had a great time. Nothing seemed to be damaged and I feel we are in good hands!
As my stuff was moved out and put into storage, I will update my review when my move in to the new place is complete! read less

Packing, Hiring a Storage Warehouse, and Other Helpful Tips for a Successful Move
Whether you’re looking for house movers or you need a furniture warehouse to store your belongings in while you transition into a new space, contact Avatar Relocation, Long Island’s premier moving and storage company. From packing to transporting, and from assembling your belongings in your new location to assist with storage, Avatar Relocation can help you with every aspect of your move so that it’s as stress-free as possible. No wonder why so many Long Islanders count on this moving service, storage warehouse, and storage company to handle all of their relocation needs.
For most people, one of the most daunting aspects of the entire moving process is packing, transporting, and setting up all of their belongings. It doesn’t have to be, though; with some careful planning, your transition from your current location to your new one can go as smoothly as possible.
To make your move as safe and stress-free as possible, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind…
Create a Plan. First things first: you’re going to want to establish a plan. There’s so much involved with moving and having a plan-of-action will help you keep track of everything that needs to be done so you can stay on schedule. Create a list of things that need to be done and develop a timeline. As you complete each task, check it off your list. Start as early as possible; most professional moving service companies recommend starting the moving process about two to three months before the moving date. The earlier you start, the more organized you’ll be and the less chaotic you’ll feel when the big day arrives.
Protect Your Belongings. Sure, you could haphazardly toss your stuff into boxes, bins, and bags; but, go this route and it’s almost guaranteed that something is going to get damaged or go missing. Instead, take the time to properly protect your belongings. Get the necessary tools, including sturdy boxes, moving tape, bubble wrap, and packing peanuts. Wrap delicate items, like dishes and glassware, with bubble wrap and surround them with packing peanuts to prevent shifting. Place larger, heavier items on the bottom and smaller, lighter items on top. If your new place isn’t quite ready for you to move all of your belongings into or you want to take your time setting everything, reserve space with a storage warehouse to keep your belongings safe and secure until you’re ready to use them. You might want to consider investing in moving insurance, too. If something does break or get lost in the transition, your insurance carrier will cover the cost of repairing or replacing the items.
Prep Ahead. Disassemble larger items and electronics before moving day. Take apart your computer equipment and store the components in secure boxes. Take apart any large pieces of furniture that you can. Empty out all of your drawers. Taking the time to take things apart will make it easier – and safer – to move bigger pieces and electronic equipment. When you’re disassembling, don’t forget to pack up any screws, knobs, handles, and other pieces in clearly labeled boxes or baggies so you know exactly where they are and can easily put the items back together when they reach their new location.
Take an Inventory. Before you even start packing, take an inventory of all of your belongings. Doing so will help you stay organized and keep track of everything; plus, it will make setting up in your new digs a little bit easier. Make a list for each room and write down the items that are within that room.
Hire a Moving Service. Don’t make the mistake of assuming that you can tackle the job on your own. Moving is a big job. Having the help of professional house movers can make it a lot easier. A reputable moving and storage company will be able to assist you with every facet of relocating; packing, transporting, and even setting up your furnishings in your new home. With professional movers on the job, your move will be much less stressful.
Take Care of Yourself. Your priority is making sure that all of your belongings make it safely to their new home, but there’s something else you need to take care of you! Make sure that you stay hydrated and eat nourishing snacks and meals. Take regular breaks and don’t try to push yourself. Pay attention to your body and when you feel like you’ve reached your limit, call a time out for a bit. Moving is physically and mentally exhausting, but by taking care of yourself you can avoid a lot of stress and strain.
By following these tips, you can make your move as safe, stress-free, and enjoyable as possible; after all, moving into a new home should be exciting, not traumatic!
