I obtained 3 estimates from various moving services including Avatar. The other two came from friend and professional recommendations, but my gut told me to go with Avatar and it was the best decision I made. The team of 4 were extremely professional and worked so well together. They treated our items and if they were their own. Every item was moved in perfect condition. Moving is a stressful event and Avatar made it a wonderful experience. I recommend Chris and his team highly. read less

The whole undertaking from initial sales meeting with Steve to the actual move with Robert, Hank and crew was outstanding. We moved on New Year's Eve Day and the guys were punctual, professional and personable. We had basically no damage to any of our furniture or our home and everything was assembled and placed exactly where we wanted it. While slightly nervous beforehand, the day ended up being such a relief. They guys were also a pleasure to deal with throughout the move. All had great personalities, strong work ethics and made the move (almost) enjoyable. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a great moving service at a fair price. read less

From the very start things went very smoothly. Steve C. arrived early to our estimate on one of the coldest Winter days Long Island has had this year. He was very pleasant and knowledgable and asked all the appropriate questions. His estimate on the number of boxes was very accurate. He sent the quote later that very afternoon and gave us a dollar amount that was fair. He made himself available in the next coming weeks for any question, big or small that I had for him. He always kept my mind at ease.
On the day of our move, Bob, Gino and a third man came to collect our boxes, bicycles, furniture and 5 precious surf boards (we packed them ourselves with bubble wrap in two surf board bags). The gentlemen packed our lamps, tv's and computer monitors along with wrapping our furniture and a glass top drafting table that was easily breakable. The gentlemen worked for three hours straight and were very professional and careful with our belongings.
Two weeks later we met the delivery tractor trailer along with Danny and Wayne at our storage unit. They arrived about a half hour earlier than expected. We received a call a few days prior to their arrival with a time and date of when we should meet them. Both Danny and Wayne were professional and carefully brought all of our items, big, small and some fragile into the storage until and helped us direct where to put the boxes. They both worked diligently and were very friendly.
Thank you again to all the helpful people we encountered from Avatar Relocation!! All of our belongings arrived safely and NOTHING was damaged. I would recommend them to family and friends. You all made our transition to Florida pleasant and always acted in a professional manner. Thanks again!...Steph and Paul H. read less

They quoted the lowest rate, highest pounds, and delivered everything perfectly. I was not "low Balled" with a low weight, only then to find out I would owe more money upon delivery.(that can happen even with a "binding" contract too) The weight was very accurate, and they delivered everything perfectly without my owing a penny more. They even stored my stuff locally, as I did not need the delivery for about 10 days later, at no additional charge. I highly recommend them. The salesman Steve Kendall was honest and fair. read less

I especially appreciated the careful way they packed all of my items. Nothing was damaged (as compared to many easily-avoided damages in my previous move with another company). At the end of the job they made an extra effort to confirm each piece of furniture and box had been placed in the right room of the house. They even helped put back together my Ikea bookshelf that fell apart while they were moving it (through no fault of theirs, particle board furniture has a tendency to do that!) Will definitely use them again if I have to move. read less

From Hiring a Moving Service to Renting a Storage Company: Tips to Simplify an Office Move
When the Long Islanders are in need of house movers or a storage company, they call Avatar Relocation. As a leading moving and storage company, the experts at Avatar help with all facets of transitioning from one location to another – whether it’s down the street or across the country. With the help of their professional moving service and storage warehouse, your move will go as smoothly as possible.
Moving from one office to another can be pretty stressful. Packing up all of the equipment, electronics, paperwork, furniture, and everything else that needs to be moved can be quite overwhelming. Then there’s setting it all up in the new space… Just the thought of changing offices can send you into a state of panic.
Moving your office doesn’t have to be a stressful experience. With the following tips, you can ensure the transition of your business is as stress-free as possible.
Planning is the Key to Success
Having a plan of action is the best way to make your office move as seamless as possible. Having a solid plan keeps you organized, on schedule, and makes communicating and executing tasks quick and easy. Setting a timeline with assigned tasks leading up to the move not only lightens the load, but it helps you start fresh and organized once you’re settled in the new office.
As soon as you know when you have to be out of your existing space and can move into your new one, start planning. If you delay, you’ll end up scrambling, which will only lead to disaster – the last thing you want when you’re moving into a new office is a disaster.
Another great way to ensure a seamless move is to divide responsibilities among everyone on your team. Assign tasks to each person, complete with a deadline of the list of things he or she needs to complete by moving day. Delegating responsibilities will get everyone involved in the process and create a sense of camaraderie, as your staff will take ownership of the move; plus, it will take a lot of the burden off of your shoulders and free up some of your time so you can focus on other things. Give them a deadline, and their list of duties to have done by the day of the move. It lightens the overall load, and it cuts down on the amount of time needed to complete the same tasks if you were the only one to do it.
Assign a Moving manager
Assign a member of your staff as a moving manager; the person who will oversee the transition. This individual will assist with delegating different tasks; make arrangements with professional moving services, such as packers and a furniture storage warehouse; answer questions; handle paperwork, and make sure that everything stays organized and on schedule. Plus; it will free you up so that you can tend to other important business matters that can’t be put on hold.
Who should you assign as your moving manager? Choose an employee that has demonstrated clear organizational skills, is clearly reliable, and takes pride in his or her work. You might want to consider a few potential candidates and then conduct interviews to see who will be the best fit for the position. Also, offer some type of incentive, whether it’s a raise in pay, a bonus, or something else that will benefit the individual; after all, overseeing an office move is a big responsibility and the person who is tasked with the job should be rewarded for his or her efforts.
Make Arrangements with Your IT Department
Coordinating your move with your IT department is crucial, as it will ensure your new office space is up and running as soon as you and your staff are ready to start using it. Give your IT department at least three months notice so that they can begin planning to transfer the equipment, setting up phone connections, and connecting the space to the Internet.
Be sure you provide your IT department with a layout of the new space. Doing so will allow them to make and execute an effective plan of action. If there are any changes or upgrades that need to be made, the IT department will have ample time to make those changes so that everything will be ready for the move. Having all of your technical ducks in a row will save a lot of time, and aggravation. Additionally, it will prevent any lapse in productivity as you and your staff get settled in the new office as your staff will be able to pick up right where they left off and continue their work without any interruptions.
Moving into a new office is exciting, but it can also be stressful. With an effective plan of action, lots of organization, and teamwork, you can make the transition to your new workspace go as seamlessly as possible for you and your entire staff.
