As I was nearing the closing date to get out of my house and the boxes started to pile up, I realized I needed a professional to help me move: I couldn't handle the task of doing it on my own. Getting a pod was something I briefly considered, but after pricing them out and getting two other estimates from movers, I decided to go with Chris and Avatar. His rates were the best in comparison, not falsely underestimating the cost to outbid competitors, or up selling me with additional nickel and dime fees others told me were "standard." Chris provided confidence and reassurance, and Avatar had a good track record as evidenced by their online reviews and Atlas Quality Awards.
Day of the move, the guys showed up on time and killed it, easing all tensions and stress. They were careful and professional, accommodating, down to earth and made the whole thing fun, we put on some music and had a great time. Nothing seemed to be damaged and I feel we are in good hands!
As my stuff was moved out and put into storage, I will update my review when my move in to the new place is complete! read less

I obtained 3 estimates from various moving services including Avatar. The other two came from friend and professional recommendations, but my gut told me to go with Avatar and it was the best decision I made. The team of 4 were extremely professional and worked so well together. They treated our items and if they were their own. Every item was moved in perfect condition. Moving is a stressful event and Avatar made it a wonderful experience. I recommend Chris and his team highly. read less

They quoted the lowest rate, highest pounds, and delivered everything perfectly. I was not "low Balled" with a low weight, only then to find out I would owe more money upon delivery.(that can happen even with a "binding" contract too) The weight was very accurate, and they delivered everything perfectly without my owing a penny more. They even stored my stuff locally, as I did not need the delivery for about 10 days later, at no additional charge. I highly recommend them. The salesman Steve Kendall was honest and fair. read less

From the very start things went very smoothly. Steve C. arrived early to our estimate on one of the coldest Winter days Long Island has had this year. He was very pleasant and knowledgable and asked all the appropriate questions. His estimate on the number of boxes was very accurate. He sent the quote later that very afternoon and gave us a dollar amount that was fair. He made himself available in the next coming weeks for any question, big or small that I had for him. He always kept my mind at ease.
On the day of our move, Bob, Gino and a third man came to collect our boxes, bicycles, furniture and 5 precious surf boards (we packed them ourselves with bubble wrap in two surf board bags). The gentlemen packed our lamps, tv's and computer monitors along with wrapping our furniture and a glass top drafting table that was easily breakable. The gentlemen worked for three hours straight and were very professional and careful with our belongings.
Two weeks later we met the delivery tractor trailer along with Danny and Wayne at our storage unit. They arrived about a half hour earlier than expected. We received a call a few days prior to their arrival with a time and date of when we should meet them. Both Danny and Wayne were professional and carefully brought all of our items, big, small and some fragile into the storage until and helped us direct where to put the boxes. They both worked diligently and were very friendly.
Thank you again to all the helpful people we encountered from Avatar Relocation!! All of our belongings arrived safely and NOTHING was damaged. I would recommend them to family and friends. You all made our transition to Florida pleasant and always acted in a professional manner. Thanks again!...Steph and Paul H. read less

I especially appreciated the careful way they packed all of my items. Nothing was damaged (as compared to many easily-avoided damages in my previous move with another company). At the end of the job they made an extra effort to confirm each piece of furniture and box had been placed in the right room of the house. They even helped put back together my Ikea bookshelf that fell apart while they were moving it (through no fault of theirs, particle board furniture has a tendency to do that!) Will definitely use them again if I have to move. read less

From House Movers to Packing: Five Simple Tips that Will Make Moving a Lot Easier
If you’re in need of a moving service or a storage company on Long Island, there’s only one company to call: Avatar Relocation. As a premier moving and storage organization, Avatar offers a range of services to make your transition into a new location as simple as possible. Whether you need to store your belongings in a storage warehouse or a furniture warehouse or you need the assistance of house movers, Avatar Relocation has got you covered!
Moving: what a stressful time. From packing to setting up in your new abode, there’s so much that needs to be done! It doesn’t have to be an overwhelming process though; with the following tips, you can stay on top of your list of things to do and make moving a lot less stressful and a lot more enjoyable.
- Push Procrastination to the Side: When it comes to moving, procrastination is your worst enemy. If you keep pushing things off for later, later will come sooner than you think, and before you know it, moving day will arrive and you’ll still have an entire house to pack up!
To tackle everything that needs to be done, start by making a list; include packing, contacting utility companies at your current and your new location, hiring house movers, etc, on your list. Organize the things that need to get done according to priority. Start with the things at the top of the list and work your way down, checking off each task as you complete it.
- Purge: Moving is the perfect time to de-clutter. Take inventory of all of your belongings and decide what you want to keep and what you can do without. Do you really need to keep that pair of jeans you’ve been holding onto since Middle School? Sure, there might be some sentimental value attached, but be honest: What are you really going to do with them? Have a yard sale or just donate all of the items that you don’t want to keep.
Getting rid of all that unwanted stuff will making packing and unpacking a lot easier; plus, it will give you a lot more space in your new home. You’ll be amazed to find how much stuff you’ve been holding onto that you don’t actually need and you’ll feel a lot lighter.
- Make a Plan: Having a plan of action is an absolute must. It makes the process less overwhelming and helps you stay organized. Determine what needs to be done, create a timeframe, and stick to it! Where you’re moving and how much you have to pack plays a big part in the plan. For example, if your new place is nearby and you only have a handful of things, you might be able to get by with the help of friends and a moving truck; however, if you’re moving far away and you have to pack up the contents of a large house, you might want to make arrangements to hire house movers, a moving service, and a furniture storage facility. Figure out when you should start backing and what you should begin with. Check items off your list of things to do as you go.
- Protect Valuables: Keep an inventory of your valuables before you move. Have a spreadsheet of all of your valuables and take a photo for each. Consider purchasing moving insurance, that way, if anything breaks or gets lost in the transition, repairs or replacement will be covered. Keep important documents, jewelry, and other valuables in a safe and know exactly where it’s located on moving day.
- Pack a Survival Kit: Having essentials easily accessible once everything is packed up will make your transition a lot easier; you’ll be a lot more comfortable, too. Pack an overnight bag with clean clothes so that you don’t have to go through boxes to find clothing, toiletries, and other necessities on moving day. Pack up some snacks, plenty of water, and some over-the-counter pain reliever, too, just in case you strain a muscle or get a headache in the midst of the move
By following these simple tips, you’ll feel less stressed and a lot more comfortable as you make the transition into your new home.
